IDEAS Empowered by Youth®
IDEAS Empowered by Youth® is an innovative, comprehensive training program for educators that prepares them to create a student-led learning environment by teaching young people social entrepreneurship. The program is delivered via a user-friendly virtual platform and includes:
- Complete K-12 Project-Based Learning Curriculums.
- Professional Learning Community (Asynchronous & Synchronous Instructions).
- Real-World Learning for Youth through mentorship with corporations and business owners.
The purpose of the program is to set educators up for success in helping youth develop 21st-century skills necessary to succeed in post-secondary programs and the workplace. Through social entrepreneurship young people learn how to operate in the world, think critically, creatively, work together for bringing positive change to their communities, and find local solutions to global problems.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
All modules contain a career pathway component, which helps explore career options in various industries.
SPIFFY's CORNER (Grades K-3)
Developing Young Entrepreneurs
“The Flood on Fanoolu” published by Ladderworks Publishing will be used as a foundation of this curriculum, which will teach children teamwork, inclusivity, problem solving through collaboration, and the importance of courage, resilience and thinking differently. Children will learn how to work together when solving problems and acquire skills that will help them later in life – being productive in a team and using resources available to them to find optimal solutions.
HEALTH & WELLNESS (Grades 3-12)
Creating Peer Ambassadors
In this deeply personal and empowering journey, children and youth will explore the health triangle of physical, mental, and social health. Through the concept of being a subject matter expert, they will learn how to become influencers and help their peers create a healthy lifestyle.
SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP (Grades 3-12)
Developing Innovative Businesses & Services
In this module, students learn the basics of business and social entrepreneurship, research a business concept, develop a service or a business idea and present it to an investor or a business professional.
FINANCIAL LITERACY (Grades 3-12)
Instilling Good Habits & Developing Success Mindset
Tying together financial literacy and career aspirations through habit formation, this module helps young people develop a positive relationship with money and adopt a mindset for success while being in service to others.
CLIMATE CHANGE (Grades 3-12)
Finding Local Solutions to Global Problems
From plastic in the oceans to one-use plastic bags, from rising sea levels to burning forests, from species decline to CO2 emissions—this module will engage young people in researching and looking for solutions to some of the most pressing issues of our time.
COMMUNITY ORGANIZING (Grades 3-12)
Developing Community Leaders for Change
Identifying problems in their community and organizing actionable steps for change. This module dives deep into leadership development and action steps to mobilize others with a shared mission.
URBAN FARMING (Grades 3-12)
Youth Voice and Action in Re-imagining our Relationship with Food
The intent of this experiential process is for young people to gain a connection between the land they live on, the food they eat and the prosperity they create. This module will have youth explore the natural resources and cultivate ancestral knowledge that exist within each of them and their communities. Youth will design projects to bring healthy food consciousness and prosperity into their communities.
DIGITAL ART AS A COMMODITY (Grades 3-12)
Creating Art for Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)
Creating unique artifacts to transform into commodities that will increase in value. This module will guide youth to develop their unique art creations that convert into a crypto digital collectible.
