Professional Development for Early Childhood & AfterSchool Programs.Our trainings provide professional development services to Early Childhood and After-School programs, enabling them to meet license and regulatory requirements. We provide on-site training to all staff members in all of the topic areas required by the Office of Children and Family Services and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. We also provide all programs with records of all training hours, topics and documents requested by their regulatory agency. We focus on helping Early Childhood & After-School programs stay in compliance with license and regulations such as Article 47.37 and Part 414.14, while building the capacity of their staff.

Development with Dignity™ provides on-site workshops for Early-Childhood Centers and After-School Programs. Upon completion, DWD provides the organization with:

• Tracking form with hours and topic areas for training requirements

• Certificates for each participant

• Copies of certificates for the organization’s records

• Training schedules that are flexible, based on the needs of the organization. DWD can teach up to 30 participants in each workshop.

We also provide centralized training for After-School Programs, where individual staff can obtain 15 hours of training, meeting all 8 topic areas for Office Children & Family Service (OCFS) SACC 414.14.

3 full days of workshops from 9:00 am-2:00 pm. $220/staff per cycle

This workshop supports staff in interacting with families to make them feel welcomed and comfortable. Staff will learn how to work with families to support the development of the children in their program. Covers OCFS topic 4b.

All staff will understand the OCFS requirements and their role in maintaining the school-age-child-care permit. Covers OCFS topics 5 & 7.

This workshop will prepare staff to create an environment where children are engaged and cooperative. Covers OCFS topics 1 & 3.

 

Coaching & Guiding Children’s Behaviors: [+] Expand
This workshop will focus on teaching staff techniques to manage children in their classrooms without using usual punishments such as threats, issuing orders, and time out. Covers OCFS topics 1 & 3.

 

Curriculum Development (Project-Based Planning):[+] Expand
This workshop will teach staff how to do long-term project-based learning with their children. Covers OCFS topics 1, 3 & 5.

 

Meeting the Developmental Needs of Children and Youth:[+] Expand

Teaching Children Responsibility: [+] Expand
This workshop will focus on teaching children how to make informed and responsible choices in their everyday lives. Staff will learn how to remind children to think about how their actions may affect others. Covers OCFS topics 1 & 3.

This workshop will focus on getting staff to work together effectively and will involve activities that staff can do with children and youth to reinforce teamwork. Covers OCFS topics 1 & 3.

 

Support Students’ Academic Outcome through Project Based Learning: [+] Expand
Where do we even begin! First, participants will understand what the “Department of Education Academic Standards” are. From this baseline, participants will learn how to develop strong objectives to keep the focus on building skills to support the child’s academic outcome. Through the project based learning process, participants will design a step-by-step curriculum that will have children experiencing learning in a fun, engaging, and intentional process. The key is not to repeat the school day, but to spark the desire for learning, bringing the outside world into the classroom. Covers topics 1& 3.

 

Creative Inspiration for Young People:[+] Expand
As educators, we must first understand how to tap into our creative mind to inspire our young people to use their creative mind. This workshop will focus on understanding the process that sparks creativity in ourselves and then design an environment where children can find their creative niches: writing, dancing, singing, drawing, photography, acting, and many other activities. Participants will walk away with a clear understanding of how to develop a curriculum to meet the developmental needs of their children by using a creative process. Covers OCFS topics 1 & 3.

 

Building your Classroom Facilitation Skills:[+] Expand
We often repetitively do things in the same way and find that children get restless or impatient. This workshop will build your resources of ways to do things that keep children focused and engaged. Participants will learn how to design a classroom environment that doesn’t feel like school is still in session. Participants will learn how to adjust their approach according to each child’s needs as well as to the energy of a large group. • This workshop will explore the foundation for developing an early childhood curriculum in a specific setting with a focus on developmentally appropriate standards. Together, we will examine sources for curriculum and gain knowledge of principles of child development while focusing on children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.

• Participants will learn the latest information about in infection. They will learn techniques for controlling the spread of infection in the classroom and within their personal space. This training is provided by a medical professional.

Developmental Delays: Supporting Children & Families[+] Expand
