Welcome!

I founded Dignity of Children because I believe it is our responsibility as adults to maintain and support the dignity of our young people. Our children are sponges. They take in everything that we adults do and they use it to design who they are. Their every experience is a blueprint of their self-worth, or lack thereof. And how we interact with them molds their core being.

My life’s journey has brought me to these beliefs as well as the conviction that my work is to empower young people. As a child, I was always looking for the approval of the adults around me, and at the deepest level, I felt that I was “not enough.” I struggled with my reading, and I was convinced that nothing else mattered—since I didn’t read as well as my peers, I was not enough. At the age of 21, I finally got myself evaluated because I just knew something was wrong with me. Having my reading problem officially diagnosed gave me a sense of freedom, because it confirmed that I just learned differently from others and that I was not stupid.

If we only pay attention to what our children are not, they see themselves as “not.”

The truth is that I am a brilliant woman! It just took me a long time to know that because there was nobody in my early life who saw me that way. We can give all our children a confirmation of their self-worth now so they can make their contribution to this earth with confidence and freedom.

We can listen, feel, and see all children for the gift that they are today. Let’s listen and look for the creative genius inside our children. Our children are the creators of our future. We are responsible for teaching them principles that will give them a pathway for life. We are responsible for setting clear boundaries to teach them the laws of the universe. We are responsible for teaching them how to be responsible for their own choices and actions.

Dignity of Children, Inc., was founded to build environments for children to thrive! I am certain that by investing our time and attention on the self-worth of our children we can look forward to a transformed world.
